Dr. Marvin Olasky, host of the
Newsmaker Interview Series

Patrick Henry College is pleased to announce another outstanding week of interviews as part of this semester's second Newsmakers Interview Series with Marvin Olasky. The exceptional line-up, October 2-5, features a well-known anti-pornography activist, a heavyweight constitutional jurist, a popular family filmmaker, and inspirational author and speaker Joni Eareckson Tada. The interviews are free to the public and will be webcast live from The Barbara Hodel Center Coffeehouse.

Micheal Flaherty

On Tuesday, October 2, at 12:20 p.m., Micheal Flaherty, the co-founder and President of Walden Media, will be paying a visit to PHC. His company has brought to life some of the world’s most beloved children’s stories, including The Chronicles of Narnia Series, Holes, Because of Winn-Dixie, Charlotte’s Web and Bridge to Terabithia.

"Chip" Mellor

On Wednesday, October 3, at 12:40 p.m., William “Chip” Mellor, President and General Counsel of the Institute for Justice, will be discussing with Dr. Olasky aspects of constitutional liberty, including economic liberty, property rights, school choice and free speech in the era of big government. Under Mellor’s leadership, the Institute for Justice has won four U.S. Supreme Court Cases related to individual rights and liberties.

Joni Eareckson Tada

On Thursday, October 4, at 12:20 p.m., Joni Eareckson Tada will arrive on campus. After a diving accident in 1967 left her a quadriplegic, Tada fought depression and thoughts of suicide to become a world-renowned evangelical author, artist, speaker, and advocate for disabled people. The founder of Joni and Friends paints bestselling works of art with a brush between her teeth, has written over 40 books, starred in an autobiographical movie, and has recorded several musical albums. Her story has inspired people around the world.

Donna Rice Hughes

On Friday, October 5, at 12:40 p.m., Donna Rice Hughes, President and CEO of Enough Is Enough, will be speaking. After her involvement in a widely-publicized political scandal in 1987 that ended the presidential campaign of Gary Hart, Donna Rice Hughes steered her life in another direction. She went on to become a national anti-pornography speaker and advocate for protecting kids online, has written books and serves on numerous advisory boards and commissions for online safety.
