Patrick Henry College
History and Debate camps highlighted week four of Teen Leadership Camps at Patrick Henry College. Led by PHC professor Dr. Favelo, History camp featured a trip into Washington, D.C. for a visit to the National Museum of History, as well a host of fun activities such as "History Jeopardy."
The second week of summer Debate camp, led by PHC alum (’11) and national debate champion Joanna Griffith, continued with public speaking theory, drills, and rehearsal. Debate camp challenges students to think critically, organize their thoughts, and communicate to any audience in a winsome and persuasive manner. The camp concluded with a final debate tournament and closing ceremonies, in which Zach McLeod and Joseph Samelson were named the winning team. Campers also enjoyed fun campus activities ranging from walleyball to kickball between sessions, and spent rare down-time in the Barbara Hodel Center coffee shop.
