At 1:51pm Tuesday afternoon, a 5.8 magnitude earthquake centered 110 miles south of Purcellville in central Virginia sent a substantial tremor through the Patrick Henry College campus. The U.S. Geological Survey has confirmed that the quake reverberated throughout the D.C. metro area and as far south as the Virginia-North Carolina state line. Other reports say tremors were felt all along the east coast.
No injuries or damage were reported at Patrick Henry College, and normal campus operations are proceeding, as the Office of Campus Operations continues to actively inspect campus infrastructure to ensure that all facilities are safe and intact.
