Teen Camps wrapped up its final week with Debate camp and Leadership and Vocation camp. Three hundred and two campers spent a portion of their summer at PHC, some even deciding to attend multiple camps.
“Teen Camps was the most humbling and rewarding experience of my life,” said Stephen Williams, Teen Camps director. “It was cool to be a part of these kid’s lives and invest in them. So many campers told me, “I learned so much about the love of God at camp. I was reminded that I wasn’t alone. I was told that I was loved unconditionally.”
Williams’ said his goal was to give every kid hope and remind them that they are not alone. To him, it made every bump and tear worth it.
Serving alongside the camp counselors made Williams realize how blessed he is to know people who are willing to be servants.
“I don’t know if I’ve ever worked with a group of people like the counselors,” he said. “They just kept loving and serving. Their love had a sacrificial nature to it.”
This week Williams is reflecting upon and wrapping up administrative tasks for camps. Next month he will turn his focus toward Teen Camps 2014.
