Time at PHC: 2010 to present

Dr. Doran teaches Music Composition at PHC and is a member of the College Music Society. As a performer, Dr. Doran has extensive orchestral experience with Richmond Symphony, Northern Kentucky Symphony, and Atlantic Classical Orchestra. As a composer, she has delivered lecture-recitals on the relationship of composition to performance, featuring her original compositions for bassoon and piano. She has also composed many works for woodwinds and voice, several of which have been performed at churches in the Loudoun County area.
 
Dr. Doran has 20 years of teaching experience in private lessons for a range of instruments including bassoon, clarinet, oboe, flute, and piano. In addition to teaching at Patrick Henry College and at a private music studio, Dr. Doran homeschools her three daughters.  She has also been an instructor of Humanities for Liberty University’s Distance Learning program since 2006, where she encourages students in appreciation of art and music.
