Shakespeare Description
We will view together five plays by this greatest of English writers, and we will read some of his sonnets and a brief biography. One of the plays will be a live performance at Shenandoah Shakespeare’s Blackfriars Theatre, a world-class acting troupe performing in a meticulous replica of Shakespeare’s original theatre. We will discuss these plays in depth. There will also be lots of opportunities to use creative writing and acting skills, as we will be both imitating this great master and performing many scenes from his plays. The week will feature special guest lectures by area Shakespeare scholars. Finally, camp director, Dr. Steven Hake, Chairman of the Department of Classical Liberal Arts, will conclude with a vision for a Christian Renaissance in our day, as we seek to be salt and light, shaping our culture for Christ.
