Terry Appleton
Institutional Effectiveness Coordinator
Assistant Registrar

Mrs. Terry Appleton has served the Office of the Registrar and the Office of Institutional Effectiveness in several roles since coming to Patrick Henry College in 2009.  She came to the College with a background in public and homeschool education, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a secondary teaching certificate from California State University at Long Beach. 

In her present roles, she enjoys assisting students with registration and educational documentation needs as an Assistant Registrar, and also serves to encourage and document the College’s effectiveness efforts as the Institutional Effectiveness Coordinator. 

   

Erika Burnett
Institutional Research Associate
Assistant Registrar

Mrs. Erika Burnett currently serves as the Institutional Research Associate for Patrick Henry College. In this role, Mrs. Burnett is responsible for educational research, the development and production of analytical reports, and for institutional data that support planning and decision making functions.  Since 2012, Mrs. Burnett has also served as the Assistant Registrar in the Office of the Registrar responsible for providing technical assistance to faculty, staff, and administrators, as well as educational and archival research information essential for retention, graduation, trend analysis, and student enrollment analysis.

Prior to joining the College, Erika served as a curatorial intern at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of African Art, where she assisted in the development and design of nationally publicized exhibitions.

Mrs. Burnett is a graduate of the University of Mary Washington with a B.A. in Anthropology and a minor in Museum Studies. She also holds an M.A. in Anthropology from George Mason University.

   

Rodney Showalter
Assistant Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness & Planning
Registrar

Mr. Rodney Showalter provides leadership to both the Office of Registrar and the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.  As the Assistant Vice President, he directs the research and assessment processes that support institutional planning, policy development, and accreditation. As Registrar, he administers the academic and enrollment services that support the curriculum, faculty, and students.

Over the past 15 years, Mr. Showalter has worked in both public and private education, at the elementary and post-secondary levels.  His years of higher education experience include enrollment services, teaching, student development, academic administration, institutional research, student learning assessment, and institutional effectiveness. 

He has presented at national conferences such as the annual meetings of the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools (SACS-COC), the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges & Schools (TRACS), and the American Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers (AACRAO).  His presentations and research interests include strategic planning, student development, student learning assessment, unit level effectiveness processes, academic program reviews and effectiveness processes, and academic coherence in the portability of credit. He has also written for AACRAO's College & University.

Mr. Showalter earned his M.Ed. from the College of William & Mary in Educational Leadership and his B.A. from Toccoa Falls College.
