College-Level Writing Skills (CLA100)
Course Description:
Students will master the fundamental principles of non-fiction prose writing so they may attain college-level competency in writing. By writing and rewriting several academic essays, students will gain proficiency in such areas as sentence structure, paragraph development, punctuation rules, and use of active voice. The research and formatting skills imparted in CLA201 shall be imparted in this courses; however, this course will also teach (and not just review) basic academic writing skills. The credits earned in CLA100 do not fulfill PHC degree-requirements; however, successful completion demonstrates proficiency of CLA201.
