Scholarship Availability

A student may qualify for more than one scholarship from among several categories. Qualification is not a guarantee that multiple scholarships will be awarded. The number and amount of awards is based on available funding each year. The College seeks to steward the resources made available each year to assist as many students as possible.

Scholarship Eligibility

Admitted, degree-seeking students who have completed and submitted all the required scholarship application materials by the posted deadline date are eligible for scholarship consideration. Scholarships awarded to degree-seeking, distance learning students will be deferred until the student attends classes on campus. Scholarships are available on a pro-rated basis for part-time degree-seeking students as long as the student is registered for six or more credits in the Fall and Spring semesters or three or more credits in the Summer term. As a condition of receiving scholarships, students agree that the College may publicize the individual successes achieved by students to promote the College to potential students and donors. PHC refrains from such promotion if it would jeopardize in any way a student's career opportunities, such as those in national security or related fields.

Scholarships are applied to the full-time course load of 12 to 18 credit hours for Fall and Spring semesters.

Scholarship Principles

As a matter of institutional conviction, Patrick Henry College operates on the basis of two guiding financial principles: first, the College is committed to operating without long-term debt, adding new facilities and programs only as funds are raised; second, the College is governed by its Board of Trustees according to its Fundamental Statements and will not accept any funding, private or governmental, which includes terms that supersede the Board’s authority or conflict with these Fundamental Statements.

In order to safeguard our distinctly Christian worldview, we do not accept or participate in government funding. We believe such financial independence is a critical component of a Patrick Henry College education. Unfortunately, as a result, we are unable to receive state or federal funds through programs such as the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) federal grants and loans, ROTC funds, G.I. Bill funds, and State funds. However, we are confident that our wide range of scholarship options can help bring one of the nation's finest Conservative Christian College educations within the reach of students from many financial backgrounds.

Because the College is recognized by the USDE as an eligible institution, PHC families may take advantage of the benefits built into the federal tax code – including education savings incentives (529 Plans), tax deductions, and tax credits. To take advantage of these benefits, please be sure to use our OPE ID number 039513-00. For further information, please refer to the IRS Publication 970, Tax Benefits for Education.
