Adelaide provides access to an array of full-text, original source materials.
American Classical League links to classical resources, including organizations, journals, activities, and Internet sites.
Christian Classics Ethereal Library contains a full-text library of philosophical readings. The site may not be easy to navigate, but is rich in resources.
Classics provides additional full-text original source materials, maintained by M.I.T. The site is not beautiful, but is resource rich, and easy to navigate.
Guide to Philosophy on the Internet accesses hundreds of philosophy-related links maintained by Earlham College.
Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy is a good general reference site.
Philosophy on the Web: A Comprehensive Web Dictionary offers valuable information on philosophers and the history of philosophy.
Philosophers & philosophies links to a variety of fascinating websites that specialize in specific philosophers and philosophical approaches. However, check the authoritative nature of the website as some are authoritative and some are not (example, Stanford University links from here - authoritative, and Wikipedia also links - not authoritative).
Philosopher’s Imprint publishes peer-reviewed philosophy works through the University of Michigan Digital Library.
Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy provides access to an impressive collection of writings by and about philosophers and philosophy maintained by Stanford University, and the universities of Amsterdam, Sydney, and Leeds.

Research tips
- Search by subject: Once you have located one item in the catalog, you may click on the search term within the record to find other items on the same or similar subjects.
- Use ProQuest, JSTOR and ProQuest to locate articles on a particular subject.
- Interlibrary loan (ILL): If you are unable to locate an item in the PHC online or on campus collection, you may request resources through Interlibrary loan. ILL requests may be made directly into the library database WorldCat. If you have difficulty requesting an ILL in WorldCat, you may use the form on the website or request assistance from any of the library staff. Once you locate an appropriate resource, potential valuable resources may be listed in the item's bibliography.
- Loudoun County Public Library's Purcellville Branch is available to students offering a variety of potentially valuable resources. A library card may be obtained by presenting your PHC library card and their catalog is available online, as well as the option to request items.
Turabian is the approved citation format for this course. Information on proper Turabian citation is available in the PHC collection, Chicago manual of style, at Ref Z 253 .U69 2003 or online at several sites, such as OWL (Online Writing Lab).
