About the Academy: In 2009, Patrick Henry College and HSLDA launched Patrick Henry College Preparatory Academy to provide advanced high school courses taught from a Christian worldview. Through online delivery, PHC Prep Academy has made the academic expertise and spiritual wisdom of Patrick Henry College professors and other excellent Christian teachers accessible to students in all 50 states and 10 other countries around the world. The Academy offers Advanced Placement* high school courses, equivalent in scope and difficulty to first-year college courses. AP courses prepare students to achieve high scores on AP exams, which can qualify them to receive credit. See www.phc.edu/transfer.php for Patrick Henry College’s AP Credit Policy.
How is the scholarship amount determined? The total scholarship award is matched to the amount paid to PHC Prep Academy for AP course tuition, beginning in Fall 2014. Tuition spent on PHC Prep Academy courses prior to the 2014–15 academic year will not count toward the matching scholarship. PHC Prep Academy registration fees and books/materials expenses are also not included in the scholarship match. The amount of tuition countable toward the scholarship match is determined after the add/drop date for each PHC Prep Academy course. Non-refunded tuition for courses dropped prior to the add/drop date will not be counted.
How may the scholarship money be used? The Academy Alumni Scholarship applies only to tuition at Patrick Henry College. Scholarship money cannot be used toward room and board or other college expenses.
Duration: The full award is applied to a student's Patrick Henry College tuition evenly over eight college semesters. A student who attends for fewer than eight semesters will only receive scholarship funds for the semesters that he or she is enrolled.
Renewal requirements: To continue receiving the scholarship, students must maintain a 2.0 GPA at Patrick Henry College.
Please note: Participation in PHC Prep Academy’s online AP classes does not guarantee a student admission to Patrick Henry College. Students in the PHC Prep Academy program are not privileged over other applicants.
