The PHC men’s basketball team kicked off the season traveling a little under four hours to Jenkintown, PA to compete against Manor College. The Sentinels managed to keep it within reach in the first five minutes with a score of 11-15.
However, the impressive athleticism of the Manor Blue Jays soon became too much to handle as they began to run away with a commanding lead. Their aggression and physicality on the defensive end flustered the Sentinels. PHC showed glimpses of the quality basketball that people had been anticipating from them, but inconsistency led to their demise, and the final score was 55-115. The good news is that with this game behind them, their toughest opponent is out of the way. One of PHC’s star players, Christopher Ziemnick, was actually somewhat encouraged by the way the team played, saying that in years past they would have lost far more to a team of that caliber. We will see how they bounce back on Wednesday when the Sentinels take on Northern Virginia Community College at home.
