The Sentinel women took on Potomac State on December 4th and fell 87-40. The Sentinels were hurt by the tall Potomac State lineup which featured four players over 5' 10". The size disadvantage eventually wore down the inside defense.
In the first half, the Sentinels put up 27 points and then scored the first two buckets of the second, trimming the lead 51-31 and causing Potomac State to call a timeout. After that, cold shooting by the Sentinels and relentless inside pressure saw Potomac State pull away for the comfortable win.
In spite of the size disadvantage, Coach Weitz was very pleased with the first two and a half quarters, especially on offense. "We ran our offensive sets better in the first 25 minutes of this game than any other game so far this year. If we can keep improving on offense like this, and continue to play hard on defense, I am excited for the second half of the season after Christmas break. I expect our ladies to be very competitive with the teams on the schedule in January and February, starting with the big rivalry game with Appalachian Bible on January 20th."
PHC students look forward to watching the games when they return!
