This endowed scholarship fund was established by the family of Walter Arsdale Schmid IV and Paul Kelly Tripplehorn Jr. to memorialize their lives.
Mick Schmid and Kelly Tripplehorn were born first cousins in a Christian family and brought immeasurable joy to their loved ones as they progressed from childhood into manhood. Our minds are rich with memories of each of them and the contribution that they made to the fabric of our shared family experience. The number of their days on earth God ordained from the beginning, and we rejoice that Mick and Kelly now live in Eternity with Him. In recognition of the hearts that feel their absence on Earth, this scholarship is intended to provide the means for promising young students to carry on the work of advancing the kingdom of Christ. We hope that future leaders will cross the stage at Patrick Henry College and proceed into the service of Our Lord, in part because Mick and Kelly lived.
It is the donor's intent that the scholarships shall be awarded according to the following preferred criteria:
1. Current student at Patrick Henry College
2. Demonstrates exceptional character and leadership
Annual Award: $5,000 per student; Renewable up to 4 years
