Patrick Henry College hires students to fill most non-professional, part-time jobs on campus. During the fall and spring semesters the College employs approximately 100 students on a part-time basis. Some jobs are limited to upperclassmen, or require specific training or experience. Some departments are looking to fill specific shifts.
Students who are interested in working on campus should check the list of available jobs on the student portal under Job Search. To apply for a job, a student should complete the student employment application found on the PHC forms page and submit it to jobs@phc.edu. Students may be contacted by a hiring supervisor for a telephone interview, or may be asked to meet a hiring supervisor for an interview when they come to campus for orientation. Students will be notified by Human Resources if they are selected for a specific position.
The rate of pay for student workers is $10.00 per hour. During the fall and spring semesters, students working on campus are exempt from Social Security and Medicare taxes. This means that 5.62% that would be deducted from gross pay at other places of employment is not deducted from gross pay at PHC. During the summer semester, students who work full-time are eligible to live in the dorm for free and purchase meals in the dining hall at the employee rate of $3.00 per meal.
