We have had a lot of feedback and questions about the 2020 Virtual Interactive Teen Camps. We hope that this post will help alleviate your concerns and answer the burning questions you have about our camp experience this summer! We'll be sending out further updates each week. Q: Will this be the normal "Zoom class" experience that I've been a part of all Spring?

A: No; this is one of the top questions we have received. We don't want this to feel like a "laptop-to-laptop" experience, and our team is working to make each element different whether it be the spiritual sections, academic instruction, or the fun games. We have specifically designed the virtual camps to have interactive experiences and breaks that will help you stay engaged and focused!  Our instructors are also working to add creative breakout sessions which will take you away from your computer several times a day. There will be a devotional, sermon, worship, wing chapel, and fun games as well! In fact, today we practiced our "Zoom Room" format and it looks great. Be looking at social media for behind-the-scenes looks into camp!

Q: How will I interact with my friends, instructors, and counselors? I wanted an in person camp experience, so how will this compare?

A: This will be as close to the on-campus experience as possible! We have 4 priorities with Teen Camps: Spiritual Development, Academic Growth, College Experience, and Joyful Adventure. These have not changed with our virtual platform this year. We want to engage your heart, mind, and soul through our Virtual Interactive Camp Experience and our focus has not changed. Of course, this will be different than on-campus, but we are creating times throughout the day to interact with your fellow students and get to know each another. This is an integral part of PHC Teen Camps and though the format is different this summer, we are aiming high! 

Q: What will a typical day look like for each camp?

A: The day will be filled with lectures, breakout sessions, discussions, and Bible study. Obviously, each camp is going to be structured differently because the subject matter is specific to each camp! However, there will be a basic schedule for the day that remains the same across all of the camps. You can check that out here. Camps will begin at 10:00am EDT and end at 7:00pm EDT. Throughout the day, you will have interactive times with fellow students and your camp counselors interspersed with lectures from your camp instructor. Note also that Friday will be a shorter day from 10am-2pm EDT. This will include final Closing Ceremonies, PHC Q&A, and more!

Q: What sort of activities/games are being planned for the camps? And how will this look on a Virtual Interactive format?

A: Great question; we're working on some unique ways to end the day on a joyful note with an interactive game! Whether it be through skits or interactive breakout games or a quiz game, the counselors are excited to end the day on a fun note with the students.
